As the only non-specialized bookseller near the UA campus and as an active proponent of reading and literacy, our General Books Department is integral to UA BookStores’ success and purpose. The department offers over 30,000 titles in the store and millions more online, including eBooks, audio books, children’s books and an assortment of other book-related merchandise.
The department offers special author/speaker and panel events that bring some of your favorite nationally-acclaimed and local authors in for candid discussions about topical events and perspectives. The UA Press Wall highlights some of the exceptional regional work published by The University of Arizona Press.
The General Books Department is responsible for the success of UA BookStores’ W.A.L.K. children’s programming, offering free reading and learning events to hundreds of children every month. The team also plays an integral role in the success of the annual Tucson Festival of Books, organizing and managing WALK-related events at the Festival and managing an exceptional volume of visiting authors and book inventory.
Strategic partnerships with select campus departments have placed UA BookStores General Books product in the far reaches of campus: in the UA Poetry Center, in Flandrau Science Center, and in the famous Biosphere2 north of Tucson.
The General Books “Buy, Sell, Trade” program provides the opportunity for customers to sell their old general reading books for cash or store credit and to buy used books from the BookStores’ shelves.
