Memorial Center (SUMC)

This flagship store, located at the heart of the Student Union in the center of campus, serves as a hub of activity, providing a level of cost-efficiency and convenience unmatched by any off-campus competitor. This store offers the most diverse array of products and offerings, including textbooks, technology, leisure reading books, clothing and gifts.

  • Textbooks—The Textbooks Department is capable of acquiring textbook information and fulfilling textbook and course materials requirements twice annually for UA's nearly 40,000 students, as well as providing spot retail locations at the end of the semesters where students can sell their books back for cash.   • Technology—The Technology Department serves a key role in the negotiation and acquisition of discounted computer equipment, software and the fulfillment of other technological needs for UA students and departments. The Technology Department also includes the Computer Service Center—a team of certified technicians available to perform cost-efficient (often times at no cost) computer repairs with on-campus convenience.   • Clothing—UA BookStores Clothing Department manages the procurement of UA clothing and apparel that meets the licensing and fair-labor requirements expected of any UA department. The Clothing Department provides a substantial financial contribution to the University in the way of licensing and administrative fees.
  • Staples®—The Staples® store inside UA BookStores, SUMC provides a wide array of competitively-priced school and office supplies for UA students, faculty and staff, including exclusive UA-licensed products, with a level of convenience unmatched by off-campus competitors.
  • General Books—The General Books Department offers more than 30,000 leisure reading titles in-store, with millions more available online. This department is also responsible for managing outreach initiatives, including youth literacy and learning programs, innovative print-on-demand capabilities, and author/speaker events, including the management of numerous events and the procurement of thousands of books in preparation for the annual Tucson Festival of Books each Spring.   • Gifts—The UA BookStores Gifts Department provides the odds and ends of Wildcat living, including dorm room needs, game & tailgating gear, stickers, license plate frames, gift baskets and more.
  • Administration—The UA BookStores Operations, Accounting, Management of Information Systems, Marketing & Creative Design, and Administrative Support teams consist of professional staff with decades of experience and student employees in their respective fields of study. Most of these departments live on the third floor of UA BookStores, SUMC.
