What's my book worth?

Just finished an exam and you really want to get rid of that book? Type in the ISBN and we'll show you what it's worth. REMEMBER, every book is worth at least $5 (even if this search shows it as lower).

What? There's an app for that?!

Look for our new "Sell Books" app on your iPhone® or Android® device and check the value of your textbooks any time you want!

How can I get more cash for my books at the end of the semester?

Sell early. Obviously keep the books through your finals—you'll need them to study. But earlier sellers will get more for their textbooks because there is a higher likelihood that we won't have met the expected demand for the following semester earlier on in the sell-back process.

Take advantage of our Highest Cash Back Guarantee. Our newly revised HIGHEST CASH BACK GUARANTEE GUARANTEES at least five bucks for your book. A few small exceptions apply, details here. See store for details.

Ask your professors if they've submitted next semester's book requirements. The value of your used textbook is directly correlated with timely submission of your professor's list of required books for next semester's classes. If they get us information on time, we know to look for more of that book you're holding, and the value of that book goes way up.

What about that media? If your textbook came with an accompanying CD-ROM or login, make sure that disk and information is with the book when you resell it. If it's open or irretrievable, there's a good chance we won't be able to buy that book.

Do you have any custom textbooks that were required by the professor? Although those custom textbooks were likely less expensive than a regular textbook three months ago, if we can't see it used next semester, we can't buy it back from you. Encourage professors who require custom textbooks to allow those books to be re-sold and bought used the next semester.

What can I do to help keep prices low?

  • Ask your professor if you REALLY need that specific edition. Then ask them if they've told US that you need that specific edition. More old editions means more cheap used textbooks for you and your classmates.
  • Ask your professor WHEN you'll need your textbook. If it's something you'll only need for a few weeks out of the semester, you may opt to buy USED or RENT to save money.
  • Ask your professor if that textbook is "required" or "recommended." Obviously "recommended" books are going to help with your understanding of the class material, but that detail may have a bearing on how you buy your book (NEW, USED or RENT) and WHEN you buy your book (at the beginning of the semester or just when you need to have it).
  • Ask your professor when they submitted their "Textbook Adoptions." We rely heavily on the timely submission of required and recommended textbook information from your faculty members to order more used textbooks on time and to avoid sometimes unnecessary rush shipping and other fees associated with last-minute orders.
  • Buy and sell your textbooks ON CAMPUS. When you buy and sell your books on campus, you're helping to reduce the costs of your textbooks the following semester—just like the class in front of you helped you by selling their books on campus. PAY IT FORWARD. Buy and sell your textbooks at UA BookStores.
